- Digital television and Internet signals are collected at our Master Headend in either Milton or Montreal.
- The signals are then transported to the transmission sites using high-capacity fiber optic links.
- Once the digital television and Internet signals are received at the transmission sites, they are converted to microwave frequencies and are transmitted to customers’ homes.
- A small antenna is installed at the customer’s home to receive the microwave signals.
- A digital set top box is used to receive the digital television signals and a high-speed modem is used to send and receive the Internet data signals.
The Look system utilizes a "line of sight" technology that requires a clear path to
the broadcast site from your antenna at home. This means that line of sight should
not be obstructed by trees, buildings or terrain from your location to our transmit
site.
Yes. In terms of lines of resolution, Look is capable of between 280 to 450 lines of
resolution depending upon the broadcast signal we receive and retransmit. This is
significantly higher than cable and a little less than DVD. Most televisions are
capable of handling between 300 to 800 lines of resolution.
A digital receiver will decode only one signal at a time. You will need then an additional digital receiver if you wish to watch a TV program while taping another one at the same time.
